About Me
I have always been interested in understanding what makes us who we are, and what gives peoples' lives meaning.
I believe we can learn a lot about the human condition through Literature and Art which I studied in my twenties. Initially I worked as a qualified Social Worker, providing services for people with the whole range of mental health and emotional problems, and subsequently setting up and running therapeutic services for children, young people and families.
I am a fully qualified counsellor, therapist and mentor with a Diploma in Adlerian Counselling (Theory & Practice of Individual Psychology) (Dip. IIP) which I integrate with a range of therapeutic techniques. For the past thirteen years I have been offering counselling and psychotherapy both in GP surgeries and privately.
I am particularly interested in Mindfulness which helps us avoid living in the past and worrying about the future, but rather experiencing life as it is so we don't end up thinking: 'Where was I when my life happened.'
I often incorporate Mindfulness into my counselling practice and have run a Mindfulness group for my local GP surgery.
